Broadway Museum reopened its doors on Tuesday 8th September 2020 and the team are delighted to announce a new selling exhibition, in addition to their permanent exhibitions about Broadway’s history.

CAPTION: BROADWAY MUSEUM AND ART GALLERY opened its doors to a new SELLING EXHIBITION Beauty, Style and Fashion: 20th Century Paintings, Drawings and Costumes, September 8, 2020 – May 31, 2021.

The selling exhibition showcases both original art, depicting fashion of the period 1900 – 1960, as well as clothes and accessories of the same period. Attending the exhibition is an opportunity to view and purchase unique works of immaculate provenance. The collection is the property of retired, locally renowned art dealer John Noott and the costumes are courtesy of Fashion Fandango.

Elizabeth Eyre, Vice Chairman of Broadway Museum and Art Gallery, says: “The exhibition explores the depiction of beauty, style and fashion using a superb selection of original drawings, paintings, gowns and fashion accessories. It opens a unique window on this influential period using international artworks overflowing with elegance and humour. A 1920s-style evening dress made for Joanna Lumley for a stage role, is just one of the beautiful items on display. By buying one of these superb fashion items, drawings or paintings, you can help our museum to thrive. And, yes, the Lumley dress is for sale!”

The exhibition will run until Sunday, 31st May 2021.

For details on parking and visiting via the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway, please go to the Broadway Cotswolds and Visit Broadwaywebsites.
